DRS banned in the tunnel at Monaco Grand Prix
Fans of daredevil overtaking will be disappointed to hear that the FIA has decided to ban the use of the Drag Reduction System in the tunnel at this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.
The race authorities were lobbied by the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association after some of its members voiced fears about the use of DRS through the city circuit’s tricky right hander.
While drivers will be free to use the system elsewhere, the overtaking zone will be limited to the start finish straight.
DRS allows the driver to reduce the aerodynamic drag by lowering a flap on the rear wing and has proved remarkably effective in generating overtaking since it was introduced at the start of the season. Read the rest of this entry »
